Daily Hearing Aid Checks

Daily checks are important to ensure that the hearing aid(s) are working properly.  I have two links with information on visual inspections and listening checks for hearing aids.  The first link is from the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.  I share this link with speech-language pathologists and teachers because it does not require a hearing aid care kit.  Also, in regard to this page, there is one piece of information I would add under the subheading, “Visual Inspection,” which is to check for corrosion in the battery compartment.  Corrosion can effect the consistency, quality, and clarity of the hearing aid’s sound.  The second link is from the National Center for Hearing Assessment and Management (NCHAM) at Utah State University.  I share this link with parents/caregivers because it does require a hearing aid care kit and often they receive one with the child’s hearing aid(s).
